Weather During Kids Kayak Camp

We typically have warm/hot days with day time temperatures in the 80-90's, low humidity, and infrequent rain showers.  Night time temperatures are usually in the upper 50's and 60's.  Water temperatures are usually around 70-72°.

Kayak Equipment

All kayaking equipment is provided but, if you have your own, please bring it so that you will have the gear that fits you best.

Clothing

  • 2 pair swimming trunks/suit
  • Dry shorts
  • Pair of long pants or sweat pants
  • T-Shirts
  • Sweatshirt or jacket
  • Rain jacket
  • Socks & underwear
  • River shoes (wet suit booties are best, aqua socks or old tennis shoes also work)
  • Hiking shoes
  • Sandals
  • Hat or cap

Personal Items

  • Towels (bath & beach)
  • Toothbrush (we have toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • Waterproof sunscreen & lip balm
  • Insect repellent

Camping Gear

  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad (like a RidgeRest® or ThermaRest®)
  • Tent (if you have one; if not, kids will share theirs with you, no problem)
  • Flashlight or headlamp 
  • Day pack (for our wilderness hike)
  • Water bottle

Optional

  • Camera, film, & extra batteries
  • Books, cards, campfire games, etc.

Other

Please do not bring knives, lighters, matches, Gameboys® or similar devices.
